David O. Levine
I am an experienced enterprise Agile coach and trainer.
My first exposure to the Agile way of working was as a project management director at a software company. During that time, I earned my project management professional (PMP) credential and was certified as a life and business coach—skills I still use every day.
Only in my next job, as the SDLC process owner for a large insurance company, did I realize that the work we had been doing was called “Agile.” A senior leader said in a meeting that he had attended a conference presentation about Agile and thought we should try it out. I co-led a team that rolled out a basic Agile process in this conservative environment.
Later, shortly after I joined Verizon, an Agile task force formed between IT and the marketing project management office. I won the marketing job, and my career changed forever. I took a full course of Agile training, working with some of the best Agilists in the world. I have made Agile my full-time career ever since.
After eight years managing Agile processes in software and business development at Verizon, in 2018 I decided to hang out my shingle as an independent Agile coach. I still work primarily to help technology and business clients find their common ground and achieve their goals together.
